All About Me

Hi everyone! I am Christen Payne, and I am so excited to be the new counselor at Carlisle Elementary School! I am from Southside, Al. I graduated from Southside High School in 2005. I received my BS degree in Psychology in August of 2015 from Jacksonville State University. I decided to continue my education and received my MS degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in School Counseling. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in December of 2018. During my time working towards my MS degree I worked as a social service case-worker at Etowah County DHR where I got to serve in foster care. It was such a life-changing experience where I learned so much! I also had the privilege to do a practicum and internships at Southside Elementary, Southside High School, Hokes Bluff Elementary, Hokes Bluff Middle School and Ashville Elementary. After graduating with my MS degree I was able to work at Ashville Elementary School where I worked as the long-term sub for the school counselor there. It was a great experience where I really got to learn things that I will use daily in this new position.

As your child's school counselor I will be doing classroom lessons (kindness, being a good friend, bullying prevention, etc.), small group counseling and also individual counseling. There are many resources available to our school and your children. If you have a need please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I would love to help!

On a personal note...My husband and best friend, Kyle, and I have been married since 2011. We are the PROUD parents to three amazing children, a little girl (Ella) and identical twin boys (Reed and Sam). We also have a British lab named Marley. We love spending time together doing things like swimming, going to parks, playing card games and board games, and watching movies. I also love spending time with my family and friends and traveling!

So far in my life the most rewarding job has been being a mother and working with children. I love it! I am so honored and grateful to be a part of this community and have a positive influence on your children's life. I am always open to feedback and interested in the opinions of parents, so please send me an e-mail anytime that you have questions or comments for me!
