All About Me

Hi everyone! I am Christen Payne, and I am so excited to be going into my second year as the Counselor at Carlisle Elementary School! I am from Southside, Al. I graduated from Southside High School in 2005. I received my BS degree in Psychology in August of 2015 from Jacksonville State University. I decided to continue my education and received my MS degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in School Counseling. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in December of 2018. During my time working towards my MS degree I worked as a social service case-worker at Etowah County DHR where I got to serve in foster care. It was such a life-changing experience where I learned so much! I also had the privilege to do a practicum and internships at Southside Elementary, Southside High School, Hokes Bluff Elementary, Hokes Bluff Middle School and Ashville Elementary. After graduating with my MS degree I was able to work at Ashville Elementary School where I worked as the long-term sub for the school counselor there. It was a great experience where I really got to learn things that I will use daily in this position.

As your child's school counselor I will be doing classroom lessons (kindness, being a good friend, bullying prevention, etc.), small group counseling and also individual counseling. There are many resources available to our school and your children. If you have a need please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I would love to help!

On a personal note...My husband and best friend, Kyle, and I have been married since 2011. We are the PROUD parents to three amazing children, a little girl (Ella) and identical twin boys (Reed and Sam). We also have a British lab named Marley and two cats, Morris and Theo. We love spending time together doing things like swimming, going to parks, playing card games and board games, and watching movies. I love spending time with my family and friends and traveling!

The Payne family

So far in my life the most rewarding job has been being a mother and working with children. I love it! I am so honored and grateful to be a part of this community and have a positive influence on your children's life. I am always open to feedback and interested in the opinions of parents/guardians, so please send me an e-mail anytime you have questions or comments for me! We will get through this year together!
