PEER HELPERS
Peer Helpers is a wonderful program that Carlisle has been a part of since 2019. Our Peer Helpers are leaders in our school who help with campaigns, fun projects, and can also be matched up with students based on similar interests to help be a Peer Mentor when needed. We have seen so many positive changes since having this at our school.
Along with Peer Helpers comes the PATH lessons. These lessons are guided by the mandated issues counselors are required to teach. The lessons are age appropriate based on grade level. They have videos and activities, and the students love our time together. Lots of learning happens during this 30 minute time together.
We hope these helpful tips, information and resources will be of great assistance to you as we all work to support our students and their families as they may be faced with hardships or different types of coping with life in general.
To help navigate these hardships and/or conversations, I have listed the parent letters below. There are resources available with links.
Sleep In Heavenly Peace
The first Tuesday of each December is known as "Giving Tuesday" in Etowah County. All of our schools' Peer Helpers sponsor a Pajama Day to raise funds for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Organization. The funds raised will go towards furthering the Sleep in Heavenly Peace mission of providing beds for local children ages 3-17, in our communities who do not have adequate places to sleep. We are hoping to at least meet that same goal this year. What a great way to give back to the community.
A "bed build" day is scheduled each year in the spring at different schools in Etowah County. We encourage all Peer Helpers to participate. More information about the build day will be provided at a later date.
