A Friendly Reminder from Etowah County School Nurses
As we begin the new school year, we want to share an important update regarding medications during the school day. The State of Alabama now has a new form that must be completed for prescription medications and over-the-counter (OTC) medications that require administration at school. https://www.ecboe.org/en-US/health-services-1313935f

Our school nurses are available to support students who require medication during the school day. However, we do encourage medications to be administered at home whenever medically appropriate.

Please remember:

Medication forms must be completed in full.

The medication label and the doctor's order (this form) must match before medications can be given.

Prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy-labeled container.

Over-the-counter medications must be in the original unopened container.

OTC medications given at school for more than two weeks require a healthcare provider's order.

Taking a few extra minutes to ensure forms are completed correctly and medication labels match the order will help us provide safe and timely care for your child.

This form is also available on the ECBOE website under "Health Services". If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn!
